Day 267 of a year of kindness

My friend Amy is leaving for England in a few days. This same friend shared her crutches with me after my surgery. In return, I shared my travel adapters and my very favorite, easy-to-pack, raincoat for her trip to London. Today, when I returned her crutches, she gave me a tomato from her garden. We both were kind enough to share.

This made me reflect on lessons I learned about sharing as a kid. It was critical that we shared our toys and our crayons - even our candy! It feels like some people have forgotten about sharing and focus on getting as much as possible for themselves.

But I’m happy to report that sharing is alive and well in a seaside town in Rhode Island. I’ll happily share my raincoat anytime, and I always appreciate a tomato. (Photo of me traveling last year in Portugal with my fave raincoat.)

Science of Kindness: Research reveals that sharing encourages cooperation and kindness. People who engage in sharing report higher happiness than the non-sharers. It sets a tone of generosity that ripples outward. #bekind #kindnessmatters #share #kindnesscounts #KindnessCounts2025
