Day 262 of a year of kindness
My friend sells pottery at a popular farmer’s market and told me that today was the last one of the season. I went to support local farmers and businesses. What I didn’t know was that it was also a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community.
I’ve been thinking a lot about this community lately, especially after learning that the Tampa Pride Parade was cancelled for 2026 due to the current “political and economic climate.” So, I went to every booth celebrating Pride Day at the farmer's market and told them how much I appreciated them. I also met the Free Mom Hugs trio. They offer support, advocacy and unconditional love to the LGBTQ+ community - especially those who may have been rejected by their families. I also got a hug! I have a feeling I’m going to be wearing one of those shirts. Stay tuned.
Science of Kindness: Research reveals that supporting marginalized groups - those groups who face discrimination, rejection and violence - creates a ripple effect of compassion, resilience and systemic change. When you respect everyone you help build a world where everyone feels safe, seen, and supported. #kindnessmatters
