Day 260 of a year of kindness
A couple of people I love called me recently upset and angry about events happening in this country. It’s so hard to understand hate and violence. It’s not only that it’s happening but it’s also being celebrated and/or repackaged as something good - or even holy.

So, I was thinking about this in my foot doctor’s office this afternoon. After examining my ankle, he told me that I could ditch the boot and wear a sneaker. I was so happy. The summer of suffering was finally over!

On my way home, I considered that we all get broken, and sick, and disillusioned and disappointed. Sometimes the heartache brings us to tears. But then, we get up, and put one foot in front of the other. That’s what I did today. I put on two sneakers (hallelujah) and put one foot in front of the other. That is the kindest thing that I can do for myself literally and figuratively. I believe kindness and love win and suffering ends eventually. We just have to keep moving forward, never give up, be brave, and keep shining the light.

Science of Kindness: Research reveals that hope is an essential component of our well-being and suggest focusing on what you can do when it is in short supply. Those efforts include practicing gratitude (notice something good), envision realistic ways that circumstances can improve and/or contribute to making that happen. They suggest trying to be mindful and deliberate about fostering positivity, even if it doesn’t exist. hashtag#bekind hashtag#bekindtoyourself
