Day 252 of a year of kindness - Today was a simple kindness. As I was pulling into my driveway, I saw a young woman standing on the street, talking on her phone, looking worried. I walked into the house and then looked outside the window to see if she was OK.

Suddenly emergency vehicles pulled up. After 10 minutes of staring out my window, I noticed that the young woman on the phone was still standing alone. I debated going outside because I didn’t want to be a "nosy neighbor" or “interfere.” But I wouldn’t want my daughter standing alone in an emergency situation, so I walked outside and asked her if she was OK.

Just then, another young woman jumped out of the nearby ambulance and the two shared a big, happy hug.“Bee sting,” said the young woman. While they were running, her friend had an allergic reaction that needed medical care. I asked them if they wanted water or needed anything and they said they were fine. They appreciated my concern and went on their way.

Science of Kindness:. Research reveals that checking on someone in an emergency situation is kind. It provides reassurance to those involved in a stressful situation that someone out there cares. #bekind #kindnessmatters #kindnessisfree
