Oct. 22 - Cooking Up Kindness

Day 294 of a year of kindness

I’m in Maine with a friend who is participating in a jewelry workshop with a group of people from around the country. So, I thought it would be kind to get them some treats.I went to this adorable restaurant called Two Mums Kitchen. I met Cindy, the owner. She and her daughter started baking and selling about three years ago. Their goal is to make delicious food that area families can afford despite rising food costs. 

I walked out of there with pumpkin chocolate chip caramel cookies, maple peanut butter cookies and chocolate brownies. For dinner, I picked up their sweet potato shepherd's pie. It felt good to support a local, mother and daughter owned company - and treat some hard working artists.
