Day 331 of a year of kindness

I went to physical therapy first thing this morning and I wasn’t in the mood. I didn’t sleep well, and after some difficult exercises I felt frustrated - by my pain, my progress, and the sense that my hard work wasn’t getting me anywhere. As I was sharing those discouraging feelings with my physical therapist, Ethan, an incredibly happy and enthusiastic man walked into the room.

I had seen him earlier, also struggling with some exercises. But this time he was smiling and waving a gift card in the air. He told all of the physical therapists to grab a coffee, handed the card to Ethan, and thanked everyone for working on the Friday after Thanksgiving.

That thoughtful act of kindness shifted the energy in the room - including mine. It was like a kindness wake-up call to snap me out of my own miserable moment. I left feeling much lighter about my foot and much, much better about humanity

Science of Kindness: Research shows that witnessing kindness reduces stress, increases positive emotions, and can even counter feelings of cynicism or despair. It reminds people of humanity’s capacity for good. #BeKind #KindnessCounts #KindnessCounts2025 #kindnessmatters #KindnessStillExists
