Today’s kindness was inspired by Sue Beach Dyl who shared this idea recently on my $10 Kindness Club group on Facebook.

I went to the Stop & Shop Grocery tonight to get a few things. When I got to the checkout lane, I chatted up a very nice cashier named Walter. After he almost finished scanning my groceries, I asked him to help me choose a candy bar for my kid. He told me that his “go to” was always Snickers. So, I grabbed two Snickers bars. He bagged up my groceries. As he handed me my receipt, I handed him a Snickers. He immediately told me that he couldn’t possibly accept it and turned bright red.

“It was for the candy bar advice,” I said as I pushed my cart towards the exit.

I turned to wave goodbye.

“I’ll eat it during my break,” he yelled.

He had such a big smile on his face. It made me smile, too. I also realized that I had an extra Snickers bar that my daughter will not eat. But I will.

Science of kindness: Research reveals that giving a hardworking cashier their favorite candy bar is a sweet gesture that makes both the giver and receiver happy. hashtag#kindnessiscontagious hashtag#kindnessisfree hashtag#kindness hashtag#bekind hashtag#snickerssuccess
