Day 146 of a year of Kindness
I met a wonderful woman today who taught me the meaning of “mitzvah.” Lynne Meade flew in from California to attend a college reunion with my childhood friend, Amy. I met them for drinks to hear all about it. But instead of chatting about old friends and old flames, we talked about Lynne’s Jewish faith and how mitzvah, which is associated with good deeds, is an integral part of her life. She says, “it’s a mitzvah,” to describe a charitable or kind act.She and Amy called each other every day from Rhode Island to California during Covid to support each other. That was a daily mitzvah. I had so much fun talking to her and learning about her faith and this expression of kindness. My mitzvah was that I ordered Amy and Lynne delicious margaritas on Memorial Day.
Science of kindness: Research shows that learning about different beliefs, cultures, and faiths enriches the learner. It is always kind when we learn more about each other. #kindnessiscontagious #kindnessisfree #kindness #bekind
