Day 130 of a year of Kindness

This kindness happened yesterday but it’s so special that I needed to write about it today. I attended a TEDx event in Portsmouth, NH. I drove to Portsmouth to see Hilary Crowley take the stage. She told a beautiful story - touching and funny - about being a foster mother and adopting her son. She shared how we could change the world by taking a more active role in helping foster children. She was amazing!I have been in a TEDx group (Zoom) for the past year led by Anna Goldsmith, who produces the TEDx event in Portsmouth, NH. And while I had met Anna before, I’d never met Hilary or my other group members, Eden-Renee Hayes or Yesenia Yeser in person.

So, for the first time I met Hilary and Eden-Renee and we were so happy to see each other. Yesenia, who couldn’t make it from Miami, watched it on live stream and cried. It was such a lovely testament to Anna, who has a gift for bringing out the best in people, and these women in my group, who have consistently supported, cheered and lifted each other up.

I felt like kindness from the audience just poured into the speakers on stage. And my little group, watching from the audience or afar, beamed all of our love and kindness onto Hilary on that stage - and she shined!

Science of kindness: Research reveals that kindness has the power to brighten someone’s day. There was so much power at The Music Hall in Portsmouth, NH, that it was brimming with light. #kindnessiscontagious #kindnessisfree #kindness #TEDxPortsmouth
