Day 188 of a year of Kindness
I saw a friend's post on Facebook that she’s teaching ninth grade biology this year and has a classroom wish list. I’m not a huge fan of Amazon, but I am a huge fan of teachers (it's also Prime Day until July 11, which means lots of deals).
I clicked on her Amazon wish list and bought her some dry erase markers and other necessities. By the end of the day, she took her link down, because she got a tremendous amount of support. But not all teachers get that kind of love.
If you can, check out #clearthelist and send a few items to teachers who need help. I also noticed that WalMart is selling packs of crayons for 50 cents, which would be an inexpensive way to help your local elementary school.
In other kindness news, a man stopped to talk to me tonight about the boot I’m wearing for my sore ankle. He told me that he has five boots from a variety of surgeries. In fact, he has thousands of dollars worth of medical equipment that he wants to donate. I told him about the Lion’s Club (yesterday’s post) and he’s going to reach out to my contact and donate. Strange and wonderful coincidence.
Science of kindness: My research shows that if we are kind to our teachers, they help our children learn and thrive. And when our children thrive, the whole world benefits. #bekind #kindnessiscontagious #kindnessisfree #kindness #teacherswishlists #teachersareheroes #clearthelist
