Day 187 of a year of Kindness
I received an unexpected kindness today. I’m having surgery next week and I need a knee scooter. I didn’t want to buy an expensive one that I would only use for six weeks. Plus, why buy one if I could reuse one? I found out on Facebook that the local Lions Club offers free medical equipment. In just a few email exchanges, I found Terry, who handed me over a super knee scooter this morning.
Could you imagine my surprise when I saw a Lions Club kindness sign on the lawn!!
The Narragansett chapter is the largest in Rhode Island and the New England region. They host many well-known fundraisers and the money goes to dozens of good causes. I was so happy about the sign that Terry agreed to stand in front of it for a photo.I will return the scooter in a couple of months and give the Lion’s Club a donation. What a wonderful service they provide. I’m so happy I learned about their national and international kindness work.
Science of kindness: Research shows that groups like the Lions Club provide opportunities to serve others, and connect with the well-being of the community. Caring about your community is kind and the act of being kind enhances your mental health . #bekind #kindnessiscontagious #kindnessisfree #kindness #narragansettlionsclub.org #lionsclub
