Day 185 of a year of Kindness
I spent a couple of hours this morning in a church basement. The Peace Dale Congregational Church needed help at its thrift store, Tabitha’s Closet, because of the holiday, so I offered to help. A larger, local thrift store closed down a few years ago, and this church stepped up to fill the need. All of the monies raised go toward outreach to help the elderly and food insecure. I spent two hours working with Carol, who is the queen of volunteering.
I sorted through clothes donations while we talked, put on price stickers and hung clothes up to sell. I donated some of my clothes and purchased a sweater from the $1 bin! Carol inspired me to go to a local library meeting and I signed up to help her again next week. I really enjoyed meeting her, doing something I've never done before, and helping them out.
Science of kindness: Research shows that volunteering is kind because it allows you to meet new people and make a difference in the world.#bekind #kindnessiscontagious #kindnessisfree #kindness #volunteer #tabithascloset
