Day 210 of a year of KindnessKindness ambassador #11, Susan Hinckley, is my cousin extraordinaire and kindness queen. Her act of kindness multiplied!
While Francesca is recovering from her surgery, I have tried to help with errands. I dashed off to the local market to buy a few items for the patient. I was equipped with a list that included a very specific salad and I was determined to get everything just right because Francesca had been feeling pretty miserable.
I went directly to the freshly made salads looking for grilled chicken with blue cheese and walnuts. Well, of course, they had everything BUT what I needed.Finding a salad with chicken was no problem but the closest they had was goat cheese and pecans. This would just not do the trick, especially for someone who bends over backwards to help people.
I found one of the staff, Alejandra, and asked her if there was any chance they had one with the blue cheese and walnuts. She happily offered to swap out the offensive options and insert the cherished ones. I was so relieved when she handed me the correct version that I bubbled compliments and thanks.
As I walked away I thought “If Francesca were here she would do something special for the extra kindness this woman showed me.”I remembered seeing someone who looked managerial and set off to find them. I found her at the Service Desk and told her how Alejandra had saved my day and wanted to make sure she was acknowledged properly.
The manager, Christa, was happy that I told her about the excellent service and thanked me for taking the time to share it with her.So the kindness I told Christa about ended up making ME feel really good. And it doesn’t end there!
Christa then asked me to wait a moment and rushed behind the service desk. She emerged with a card of appreciation that I could then give to Alejandra! The card read “YOU were caught DOING A GREAT JOB!” AND it gave the recipient a $5 credit for anything at the store!Who would have thought one person’s kindness could multiply so many times!!
Science of Kindness: Research shows that appreciation is kind because it is a fundamental human need that enhances well-being and boosts morale. Expressing appreciation not only makes others happy but also makes you happy. #kindness #kindnessisfree #kindessmatters #appreciation
