Day 207 of a year of Kindness
Jenny Haase, ambassador #8, who has a heart for kindness and an organization with a similar name, shares a note of kindness.
My Mom’s water heater went out last week, and she was feeling pretty stressed about it (a natural response at any age). My brother Scott lives with her, and they were expecting they’d have to pay $2,000 or more to have the water heater replaced. Mom called me to ask for Mickie’s phone number. Mickie is her niece. Her husband, Harald, is a retired plumber, and their son Steve works as a plumber, too.
Mickie, Harold and Steve came over. They removed the old water heater, purchased a new one for $800, and returned the next day to install it. Steve would only take $100 for labor! Mom and Scott wanted to do more to express their gratitude for their kindness.
So … Mom wrote a sweet note expressing their appreciation. She and Scott tucked $100’s inside the envelope, then they stopped by Mickie’s and Harold’s home. The four of them had a nice visit, and they asked Mickie and Harold to take Steve out to enjoy a meal together.
I love how at 96, my Mom (Jean) still puts her attention and energy into being kind, just as she has, all of her life! Aah. #Kindness and #Gratitude. The best of friends.
Science of Kindness: Research (and simply noticing!) indicates that Kindness and Gratitude are values that enjoy traveling together. You start with one, the other quickly follows, and the pattern repeats itself, with wonderful ripples that uplift and inspire! #KindnessFromTheHeart #LegacyOfKindness #kindness #kindnessisfree #kindnessmatters
