Day 206 of a year of Kindness
Pat Kennedy, kindness ambassador #7, shares a kindness from her midwest neighborhood.
IT’S THE LITTLE THINGS
You might be thinking, how in the world does this picture have any connection to kindness? Well, please let me explain.
Back in the spring of this year, we had some pretty windy days. I work from home, so I am aware when the trash, including the recycling bin, has been picked up.
My neighbors work outside the home, so I started bringing their receptacles from the curb to their garage door on trash day. Fast forward to this summer, when my neighbor had asked me if I was the one bringing his trash bins from the curb to the garage.
I reluctantly told him, “Yes,” and told him about my experience with windy days and chasing a recycling bin around the neighborhood only a few weeks after having knee surgery! It’s not a big deal, but I know they appreciate the gesture coming home from work and not having to chase bins.
This week, our neighbor brought our recycling bin from the curb to our garage. It’s the little acts of kindness that can bring a smile to your face, too! Thanks, neighbor.
Science of Kindness: Research shows that being a good neighbor helps foster a sense of community and connection. The mutual goodwill and trust fostered among neighbors can turn a simple residential area into a vibrant, supportive community. #bekind #kindnessiscontagious #kindnessisfree #kindness #goodneighbors
