Day 192 of a year of Kindness
I posted recently that my cousin, Fifi, died. Today, my niece, Sophie Cline, and I sat down and sent Fifi’s partner, Lenny, a condolence card. What is extra special about this is that my niece had never met Fifi. However, a few months ago, 80-year-old Fifi sent my 17-year old niece a letter.
Fifi’s real name was Sophie, and she wrote to my niece that she must be cool if her name was Sophie and asked her questions about her life. Sophie was excited to have a new penpal, who was also related, and wrote her back. Fifi died a few weeks later.
Their letter exchange made such an impression on Sophie and she shared that in her card to Lenny. I also wrote Lenny a long letter about everything that was special about Fifi. I also shared how much she loved Lenny.
Sending a condolence card is a powerful act of kindness especially when someone loses the most important person in their life. It’s a gift to share all of that love with the person who needs it the most.
Science of kindness: Research reveals that a condolence card, which includes special memories and kind words, offers comfort during a time of grief and sadness. It’s a meaningful and impactful gesture that the receiver will never forget. #bekind #kindnessiscontagious #kindnessisfree #kindness #condolencecard
