My kindness today was a heartfelt compliment to two of my friends. Almost 20 years ago, I met Dayna Harpster and Melanie Payne at The News-Press in Fort Myers, Fla. We were reporters who fortunately sat next to each other. We also started, what we called, “The Bestsellers Club,” which was supposed to inspire us to write a bestseller.
The Bestsellers Club has met for almost 20 years and has become so much more than a writing club. I told them how much their friendship meant to me, which generated such a wonderful conversation about life’s highs and lows. I’m at a storytelling conference with them this weekend and shared what important roles they have played in my story.
Science of kindness: Being kind helps create and sustain friendships. Research shows that meaningful social connection boosts the immune system and increases happiness. Social connections help people live longer and healthier lives. #kindnessmatters #kindness #kindnessiscontagious @10kindnessclub
