Day 340 of a year of kindness

I volunteer some Saturday mornings at a thrift store in a church. Today was their annual holiday bazaar, with wreaths and crafts for sale. They also had a big special at the thrift store: you could fill a garbage bag with clothes for just $10.

This morning I drove two friends of mine who are learning English, and live outside the area, to the sale. We had a ball! We filled four garbage bags with shoes, bags, coats, pants, dresses, baby clothes etc. The contents of these bags will go far and wide - and all into the hands of people who need them. The money also went to a good cause.

It’s ironic that the sale should be $10 because that is the kindness challenge I gave my students every semester when I taught a kindness class at FGCU. The students did remarkable things with a small amount of money. Today $10 did remarkable things for many people. I also got a kind note about it as well.

Science of Kindness: Research reveals that the joy of giving, the ripple effect of $10, and the shared experience strengthens communities and multiplies impact. It also makes everyone smile. #BeKind #KindnessCounts #KindnessCounts2025 #kindness #kindnesseffect #$10kindnesschallenge
