Day 357 of a year of kindness

I woke up with a head cold and canceled my plans. I stayed in my pajamas and moved through the day at half‑speed, only doing what was necessary. Tonight, I made popcorn and hot chocolate and watched two movies recommended by friends with happy endings — The Holiday and This is Christmas. I gave myself grace. I let myself rest. And that, I’m learning, is its own quiet act of kindness.

When you’re sick or worn down, stepping back is how you keep yourself whole. For many reasons, I needed a time‑out — so I took one. It was the kindest thing I could do for myself today.
