Day 356 of a year of kindness
Elizabeth Woodhouse, Kindness Ambassador #43, used her talent to bring the holiday spirit to those who needed it.Elizabeth is the founder of Newport Sings, a program that brings together different groups — including LGBTQIA+ — to make music.
This afternoon, she and Jan Navarro, a pianist at Newport Sings, spent time singing with senior residents of Heatherwood Rehabilitation center in Newport, RI. All they needed were their voices and a piano to bring joy to the center.Elizabeth’s voice and her passion to bring music into spaces where people can express, create and connect - shines through her chorus programs for all ages and abilities.
Through song, she helps people feel more connected to the community and less isolated. It’s a profoundly kind and impactful effort - and didn’t cost a penny. She’s also my cousin and I’m so proud of her.
Science of Kindness: Research reveals that for seniors — especially those in rehabilitation centers — singing creates a shared experience that combats depression and loneliness. #BeKind #KindnessCounts #KindnessCounts2025 #kindness #kindnesseffect #kindnessmatters #singing #newportsings
