Day 351 of a year of kindnessI received an amazing kindness last night that spilled into today.
Because of mechanical trouble with my first flight and then later, a medical emergency on my connecting flight, it took me two days to get home from Arkansas. While I was gone, Rhode Island was hit with snow and freezing temperatures. So, my cousin, Susan Hinckley - Kindness Ambassador #41 - went to long-term parking at the airport yesterday, found my car in a sea of cars, and de-iced my windshield (amazing!!).
While scraping my windshield, Susie noticed a woman standing alone in the lot who looked nervous. Susie asked her if she was OK. The woman thought she was going to miss her flight because she missed the shuttle. Susie offered to give her a ride. The woman accepted, and during those few minutes Susie told her about the year of kindness.
Today, the woman tracked Susie down and sent this note online:“I'm not sure I have the right good Samaritan Susan, but thanks so much for the lift! Thanks to you, I made it on time for my flight. Grateful Christmas cheer! Hooray for Kindness!!"It’s truly the ripple effect of kindness.
Because Susie thought to help me, she also helped someone else. I was deliriously happy and so grateful to Susie to get home quickly and safely thanks to an ice-free windshield. Hooray for Kindness!
Science of Kindness: Research reveals that kindness is contagious. A small act can create a chain of goodwill that may inspire even more unseen ripples. #BeKind #KindnessCounts #KindnessCounts2025 #kindness #kindnesseffect #kindnessmatters #kindnessiscontagious
