Day 350 of a year of kindness

I unexpectedly stayed another night at my writer’s retreat because the Delta plane broke down. For some reason, my writing space and room get cold despite heat. I brought an electric blanket/throw with me just in case.

I decided to leave it for the next person who might get a chill. I also left a big bottle of bubble bath, a candle, some chocolates and a note and a tip for the housekeeper. It made me realize that kindness is always something you can leave behind—after your stay, after your journey, after any chapter that closes—as a way of thanking those who made the experience possible.

Science of Kindness: Science reveals that leaving kindness behind contributes to what sociologists call social capital—the invisible bonds of trust and goodwill that make communities stronger and more resilient. #BeKind #KindnessCounts #KindnessCounts2025 #kindness #kindnesseffect #kindnessmatters #writerscolonyatdairyhollow
