Pennies from Heaven.In the past month, I would randomly see a dime or a penny on the ground, and I would notice how out of place it seemed. It gave me a moment of pause. I would see them outside, at home or at work. It wasn’t a normal thing for me.

It really caught my attention when I got out of bed recently before the sun came up. I read an email from my sister, Francesca, asking me to be a kindness ambassador while she heals from surgery. As I was thinking about this, I walked into the bathroom sleepy-eyed and heard a coin drop onto the floor. It made a spinning noise on the tile. I looked down and a penny lay next to my bare foot.

 Immediately, I thought of my father and the phrase pennies from heaven.I suddenly had this intense feeling that the pennies and dimes I had been seeing recently were from him to say, “Hey, I am here. I want to help.”My father passed away a few years ago and we had a strained relationship. This realization momentarily softened my heart around my relationship with my father. I cannot explain it. The sharp edges of my relationship with him dulled a little.

So for my act of kindness, I dropped pennies and dimes in random places throughout the day. Maybe someone from the other side wants a loved one to see that coin and they will pause long enough to get a message. A message that says, “Hey, I’m right here, I love you. I’m OK.”It may, for a brief moment, cause an ounce of healing for someone who needs it - just like me.

Science of Kindness:Pennies from heaven conjures up many meanings including connecting with the divine or a sign of blessings. Research has not studied this phenomenon but wherever healing occurs - on whatever level - is a blessing. #kindness #kindnessisfree #kindessmatters #penniesfromheaven
