Day 238 of a year of Kindness
I had a very sweet kindness happen to me today. Because I can’t walk while my ankle recovers after surgery, I’ve had to figure out how to manage the most mundane tasks like getting the mail. It’s very hard to get the mail on my knee scooter because I have a gravel driveway. I have to scooter to my car, put my scooter in the car, drive 30 feet to the mailbox, position my car just right so I don’t smash into the mailbox. Once I get in the right position, I reach in and get the mail, drive back into the driveway, hop out, pull out my scooter, and scooter into my house. It’s my least favorite part of the day.
So, about a week ago, a woman was standing by the mailbox, drinking water after her run. I was trying to maneuver my car so as not to hit the mailbox. I asked her if she would mind opening my mailbox and handing me my mail. She was happy to do it. I told her about my ankle and in a funny coincidence, we also shared the same number address.
Well, today, I heard this knock on the back door and it was Katie Mc bringing me my mail!!! It was so incredibly kind. It is just another reminder that there are such lovely people out there who want to help other people. We had a really nice talk and it made me really happy.
Science of Kindness: Research reveals that people who take the extra time to care for another person - even a stranger - can significantly increase happiness levels and foster social connection. #bekind #kindness #kindnessmatters #kindnessisfree
