Day 93 of a year of Kindness

I volunteered to be on a panel of judges for senior projects at the local high school. Before the judging began, I sat next to Sarah Dully, this year’s district teacher of the year. She shared that she had made a New Year’s resolution to run a mile every day. I told her about my resolution and we both said - Day 93! What a fun connection.

The students came professionally dressed and presented some of the skills they mastered such as the electric guitar and designing costumes for the school play. They took so much pride in their presentations. Afterwards, I walked by a huge kindness board in the hallway. The board instructs you to take a positive sticky note or share one. After I left the high school, I went to the YMCA and put one of their sticky notes on the locker room mirror.

Research shows that volunteering reduces stress and increases positive, relaxed feelings by releasing dopamine. By spending time in service to others, volunteers report feeling a sense of meaning and appreciation, both given and received, which can reduce stress.. It also provides a sense of community and an opportunity to broaden your social circle. #kindness #kindnessiscontagious @10kindnessclub #kindnessisfree #narragansetthighschool
