Day 117 of a year of Kindness

I stayed at a hotel last night. I worked in tourism for many years and I know how hard the cleaning staff work - and I know what they have seen. You don’t want to know. So, I always leave a tip for housekeeping. I tip every morning of my stay because there is often a different person who cleans the room every day. It doesn’t have to be a lot of money - etiquette says about $3-$5. I just stayed one night so I gave more. I also leave a note. A few times, I have received notes back if I was staying longer at a hotel, which is always a fun surprise. This is one of the easiest kindnesses you can do when traveling and it has a huge impact.

Science of kindness: The cleaning staff at hotels often work the longest hours for the least pay and their job is critical to the happiness of the guest. Research shows that giving a tip shows appreciation and boosts the happiness and well being of the recipient. #kindness #kindnessiscontagious #kindnessisfree #bekind #tiphousekeeping
